The History of TEC

TEC (Thrun-Eicker Caravan) began its journey in 1957, making its mark with quality caravans engineered for durability and comfort. Established in Germany, TEC quickly earned a reputation for precision engineering and thoughtful design, appealing to a growing post-war market seeking mobile leisure solutions.

By the 1960s, TEC Caravans had become a prominent name across Germany and wider Europe, thanks to their commitment to quality and innovation. The company steadily expanded its range, offering models that blended German efficiency with a growing focus on user-friendly living spaces.

In the 1970s and 80s, TEC experienced significant growth and began exporting its models across Europe. Their partnership with Knaus Tabbert AG further strengthened their position in the caravan industry, giving them access to wider distribution networks and advanced manufacturing facilities.

One of TEC’s most iconic models, the Weltbummler (Globetrotter), emerged as a best-seller during the 1980s and 90s, offering comfort and practicality that resonated with touring enthusiasts. Known for solid build quality and sleek, modern interiors, TEC caravans became a fixture on European roads and campgrounds.

Although production of TEC-branded caravans ceased in the early 2010s following strategic restructuring within the Knaus Tabbert group, their legacy continues. TEC caravans remain highly regarded in the second-hand market for their robust construction and timeless design.
