The History of Lunar Caravans

Founded in 1969 by Brian Talbot and Ken Wilcock, Lunar Caravans was established with the vision to create high-quality, lightweight caravans that were both functional and stylish. The name “Lunar” was chosen to reflect the innovative and forward-thinking nature of the brand, as well as its ambition to reach new heights in the caravan industry. Over the decades, Lunar Caravans became well known for producing a range of touring caravans that catered to the diverse needs and preferences of holidaymakers, with a focus on comfort, practicality, and design.

As the years passed, Lunar continued to evolve, introducing various models that pushed the boundaries of what a caravan could offer. They gained a loyal following of caravan enthusiasts, thanks to their innovative features and lightweight design that made towing easier without sacrificing comfort.

In 2019, the Lunar brand was manufactured under the name Lunar Automotive, which became part of a South African Engineering Group. However, despite the new ownership, Lunar Automotive struggled to maintain production and was ultimately unable to continue manufacturing Lunar caravans. This marked the end of the Lunar brand as we knew it, leaving a lasting legacy in the UK caravan market.

Though Lunar Caravans ceased production, their legacy continues through the enduring popularity of their models in the used caravan market. Many used Lunar caravans remain highly sought after for their quality construction, lightweight build, and reliable performance, ensuring that the Lunar brand lives on in the caravanning community.
